Frankie studied Art at the National College of Art & Design in Dublin in the early Seventies. Subsequently she taught Art as a subject at secondary level for many years and was engaged in the instruction of many young students in the elements of painting , pottery and various other craft disciplines. "I have been painting oil-on-canvass for the past 25 years. I love the feel of this traditional medium and the vibrant colours and textures that it can create. The outstanding work of artists from times past, particularly the Romantics, Impressionists and Expressionists have always greatly influenced my work. I see my work as a continuation of this tradition. I have always been intrigued with the play of water and light on land and sea. I find inspiration in the vegetation, seascapes and mountains of Ireland and in the energy of the human form."
