I have been working in watercolours for about eight years. I love the challenge of watercolours, the journey of discovery often produces many ‘happy mistakes’. On a recent trip to New Zealand I discovered acrylics and have been using this medium to produce altogether different paintings. I love the feeling of space and the effect wind and light can have on a seascape. The wildlife living in and around the sea is also a wonderful subject to paint. I live and work in Wicklow town. I spend a lot of time down by the harbour and walking along the shoreline and I never fail to get inspiration. I love big skies and sea, both the sea and sky can change so dramatically and suddenly they are a real challenge to depict, especially in watercolour.
I work and exhibit in Kilmantin Art Gallery in Wicklow Town. I also exhibit in The People’s Art Gallery, Powerscourt Centre, Dublin. I am a member of Signal Arts Society and Arklow Visual Arts.
I have exhibited in both Bray and Wicklow Libraries and I have taken part in exhibitions in Greystones Library, Bray Churches Together, 30 Artists Monkstown and A.S.H. Enniskerry. I have recently had a solo exhibition in The Signal Arts Centre.
I want to keep depicting what I see around me and every day putting what I see and feel on paper and canvas to share the wonderful sights we all have around us.
