Tuesday 24th July - Sunday 5th August 2018

Signal Arts Centre is delighted to be exhibiting works by the artists Ciaran Doyle & Emily Veale.

Ciaran Doyle is a visual artist based in Bray, Co Wicklow, working mainly as a painter using acrylic paint. He completed his Undergraduate in Fine Art painting at NCAD in 2015.

Architecture and landscape form the main subjects of his paintings. They focus on streetscapes and landscapes familiar to everyone, captured at a time of day where the light is at its most dramatic. The paintings, through the use of colour, multiple layers of paint, and pen and pencil marks, create a dream like image that is very much grounded in reality, by the realistic perspective in the buildings and architecture featured which links it back to the original landscape the painting it is based on. The paintings allow the viewer to see the beauty that surrounds them within the places in which they live their lives everyday.

Emily Veale is a visual artist and educator based in Bray, Co. Wicklow working with various mediums such as collage, drawing, installation and photography. She is currently undergoing her MA in Socially Engaged Art and Further Education in NCAD following her Undergraduate degree in Fine Art Painting from NCAD.

Communication, interpretation and response are the key elements within her work and have become the main focus surrounding her artistic practise. Her community has had a massive impact on how she works and what is produced. It is about telling a story and allowing the viewer to become part of it.

The pieces for the show are the original illustrations from her collaborated work with yoga instructor Elaine Harris and their children’s relaxation book “Listen to the Sky”. These illustrations were created using delicate hand-made collages from found and recycled materials.

Opening Reception: Thursday 26th July from 7 - 9 pm

All Welcome!
