Noreen O’Hanlon | Tread Softly

“Tread Softly” showcases Noreen O’Hanlon’s evocative, atmospheric compositions. Each painting expressing her desire to visually communicate the things that sing to her, and the elements that resonate with her in her natural environment. Weather, sky, sea, stones, shells, plants and the natural cycle of growth, death, decay and renewal are all reflected in her work. Her art is a translation of her natural environment into an abstract composition, responding to nature in all its forms.

A two-week residency at Cill Rialaig artists retreat in Co Kerry kicked off this collection of paintings. The residency gave her the physical and ideological space to delve deeper into the work, allowing for complete immersion in the process of making art. Her paintings investigate both materiality and aesthetics. Her thought process is slow and considered, working in layers, combining colour and texture. Exploring, discovering, and learning new techniques and processes are all part of practice.

Noreen is an artist based in Dublin. Her painting practice has consistently evolved since 2005. She held a solo exhibition, The Symphony of Colour, at the Dun Laoghaire Art Gallery in 2015. Her paintings have been included in many group exhibitions. She is a professional member of Visual Arts Ireland. She is also a member of Artnet DLR.
