Stephanie Sloan | Catching Time
MARKING TIME is a new collection of limited edition Screen prints created by Wicklow based artist Stephanie Sloan over the past year.
Inspired by natural forms and landscapes, Sloan creates vibrant screen prints with a strong graphic style. Working with both hand drawn and digital techniques, Sloan finds patterns emerging from nature, creating compositions that capture the energy of natural formations and play of light on surface. With a distinctive style of pared-back elements of intense colour and graphic line and form, Sloan’s artworks sit between realism and abstraction, encouraging the viewer to engage in the detail from macro to the greater organic landscape.
These are a collection of joyous prints, a play of colour and amplified pattern celebrating growth, renewal and the positive power of nature in our world.
Sloan has a background in design and over the last four years has combined her practice of commercial illustration with exhibiting artworks handprinted at both Blackchurch Print Studio, Dublin, and her print studio in Arklow, Co. Wicklow. A graduate of the National College of Art and Design, Dublin and the Royal College of Art, London, Sloan was a recipient of a Future Makers Award from the Crafts Council of Ireland 2020, and has exhibited with solo and group shows in Ireland and abroad. Recent highlights include two solo shows at Wilton Gallery, Dublin in 2020 and 2021 and inclusion in groups shows Twenty One at Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray 2023 and Adspatium in Gavle, Sweden 2022 and Woolwich Print Fair, London 2023.
