Opening Reception: Friday 8th September. 7 – 9pm

Misery Loves Pottery is a small collection of ceramic pieces by Signal staff artist Dylan Clucas. Dylan was a graphic designer who became addicted to pottery after being coaxed into trying the wheel by his uncle.

While he was exploring ceramics, Dylan suffered a collapsed lung for which he needed major surgery. As a result, he became miserable and depressed but discovered that pottery gave him an incentive to move forward. The opportunity to immerse himself in art made his recovery time more bearable.

This collection mainly consists of wheel-thrown pieces and trimmed pots made with terracotta clay. They reflect Dylan’s love of graphic design and graphic-based aesthetics.

Misery Loves Pottery is the artist’s reflection on his journey through the pain of recovery, and his evolving relationship between his own health and his clay creations.
