Signal Arts Centre is delighted to be exhibiting works by the artists Denise French.

The forthcoming Solo Exhibition at Signal Arts Centre features the work of Denise French who explores memory in her work. Memories are small fragments of reality, the memory of an event, a conversation, a happening or a place. As memories are retold they change and fragment again.

Recent writing has lead her to investigate childhood memories, revisiting landscapes that hold memories for her and attempting to recapture the feeling of looking again at these special places and re-examining the memory.

Denise French was born in Sligo in 1962 but grew up in Dublin and, as a young adult, lived in London and New York. A graduate of IADT Dun Laoghaire, French’s preferred medium is oil paint on canvas. Her practice also includes drawing and exploratory writing, all of which inform the final works. Her work can be found in many collections in Ireland, Europe and the USA.

Opening Reception: Friday 29th June from 7 – 9 pm
