Kaisa Ypya has always been fascinated by the way light and shadows change our perception of what we see and how we view the outdoors and nature. The paintings in this exhibition have become a collection of snapshots of moments the artist has spent out in the wilderness, captured by her camera, and her attempt to translate the images into watercolour paintings.<\/p>\n

Our shared longing to return to a more connected life and the feeling that we have become so far-removed from nature is now more obvious than it has been ever before. Ypya\u2019s paintings are a method of escaping that feeling of being trapped in the routines of a man-made world with its creeping sense of restlessness.<\/p>\n

This is Kaisa Ypya\u2019s first solo exhibition. She has a background is in art facilitation and has studied fine arts in her native Finland.\u00a0 She is the owner of the Secret Garden Art Studio in Greystones which will begin offering art classes for both adults and children in the near future.<\/p>\n

Having lived in South Africa and England, Kaisa Ypya settled in Ireland fourteen short years ago.<\/p>\n
