Alexandra Dewart | Northern Family
A contemporary art installation exploring the lives of a 20th century Northern Irish working class family.
40 digitally printed and hand embroidered tea cloths and several commemorative costumes make up this exhibition.
Making use of old family snap shots the artist has created a ‘history’ of her family- farming and urban working class.
She has drawn on the rich history of the printed tea towel in Ireland as inspiration for the colours and motifs. While digitally printed, each cloth has a small hand embroidered section.
