Gaby Browett | MoMA – MAMAC – ME
Opening Reception: Friday 16th September, 7pm – 9pm
A fortuitous encounter with a bag of eyes in Paris was just the start. With the eyes in my possession, I began to see things differently…
I feel most at home in modern and contemporary art museums. I imagine that most of the artists on the walls thought themselves mad at one point or another but their company made me feel less mad or maybe we were all joyfully mad together. These spaces gave me permission to follow my own thought process. The works in this exhibition include mixed media paintings and 3D works.
Originally a designer and dress maker, I have maintained a visual arts practice for the past 20 years. I find that my work is informed by my design background, which leads it to having an illustrative and playful quality. I regularly exhibit locally and my work has also been shown internationally. Recent work includes pieces shown at Sculpture in Context 2021 and the RHA 192nd Annual Show.
