Lorna Lennon | Night to Day

“Night to Day” is an exhibition of contrasts. In it, Lorna explores the juxtaposition of light and dark as they play out in urban and landscape locations.
These semi-abstract watercolours move from the darker settings of buildings against evening skies, often showcasing the dance of light on water, to the brighter paintings capturing sunlight on landscapes and flowers.
Using watercolour and mixed media Lorna balances techniques such as the Japanese light-blurring effect of bokeh, as well as paper scratching and spritzing to achieve a range of visual effects with tools such as twigs, plastic cards and skewers as well as traditional watercolour brushes.
The interplay of light and shade has been a continuing inspiration for Lorna with the movement of light on water being a particular motif in her work.
Lorna is a Bray artist and art teacher, and is currently the Exhibition Co-Ordinator at Signal Arts Centre.
