‘The Socially Distant’ is a collection of works exploring how our day-to-day habits and thoughts have changed over the course of the last year.

In this exhibition Karen’s imaginary, colourful characters narrate their thoughts and feelings. They express their new habits and observations during the period of time. Their stories tell of the mundane yet are humorous and familiar.

A lighthearted observation on how us humans have recoiled, readjusted and altered our minds to fit a new normal.

With an out of the blue transformation in how we connect with others and fill the days how does a head cope with the simple things in life suddenly turning complicated?

Does the brain become more creative in its thoughts, does the banal become more profound, do we care more now about the small things?

In the end, we wonder are we changed people when life returns to normal?
